Charles River Lyon provides bioanalytical services across all stages of drug development, supporting sponsors with the development, validation, and execution of pharmacokinetic, immunogenicity, and biomarker assays for both preclinical and clinical work. The Gyrolab platform plays a central role in delivering the sensitivity, throughput, and reproducibility that sponsors increasingly demand.  

 The Lyon site has operated Gyrolab systems since 2020, running both Gyrolab xPand and Gyrolab xPlore workstations. Automation is central to the performance advantages Gyrolab brings. By precisely controlling capture, sample addition, and detection steps, the platform eliminates analyst-to-analyst differences and removes the risk of inconsistent incubation times. The result is a more stable, reproducible assay from run to run. Compared to manual ELISA, Gyrolab delivers up to 112 data points per hour and supports overnight runs, substantially increasing throughput with minimal hands-on time. For a CRO environment where speed and data quality are equally critical, this translates directly into faster delivery for sponsors.

Gyrolab also addresses one of the recurring challenges in early development programmes: sensitivity. For sponsors unfamiliar with the platform, CRL Lyon has demonstrated improved sensitivity relative to ELISA, opening up new options for assays where conventional methods fall short.
