Reducing solvent consumption with orthogonal catch-and-release peptide purification

Much attention is being paid to the environmental impact of solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) in peptide production by reducing and replacing hazardous and toxic solvents and reagents.

However, the main contributor to the overall organic solvent use and waste load during the entire manufacturing process is peptide purification using conventional reversed-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC).

In this study, we demonstrate the significant impact of orthogonal catch-and-release purification using PECTM technology on the overall organic solvent usage and waste budget for more environmentally responsible peptide manufacturing.
