Gyros Protein Technologies enables bioanalytical solutions and peptide synthesis that help scientists increase biomolecule performance and productivity in research, drug discovery, pre-clinical and clinical development, and bioprocess applications. Gyros was founded in 2000 as a spin-off from GE-Healthcare. In 2016 Gyros Protein Technologies was founded through the merger of Gyros and Protein Technologies. The centre of excellence for the immunoassay business of Gyros Protein Technologies is located in Uppsala. The company has approximately 140 highly motivated professionals in Sales, Marketing, R&D, Operations, etc. Since 2019 Gyros Protein Technologies is part of Mesa Laboratories Inc. as their Biopharmaceutical Division.
Gyros Protein Technologies, a global company that develops, manufactures, markets and sells a unique microfluidic platform based on CDs to miniaturize and automate immunoassays, is now searching for an Application Scientist with focus on kit- and assay development.
In the role of Application Scientist, you will be involved in the entire development process, from idea generation and early proof of concept to development, verification and launch of new products. The products include consumables and kits for immunoassays, microfluidic CDs, instruments and software with a focus on assay- and kit development for this particular role. The work takes place in an interdisciplinary area where broad competence and interest in the various functions are an advantage.
The work is conducted in project form and includes collaboration with other functions (such as manufacturing, quality control, marketing and sales) and requires good communication and collaboration skills.
If you are inspired by influencing and driving innovative overall solutions for immunoassays, have a positive can-do attitude and the ability to take initiatives, you are the person we are looking for.
We believe that you have a Master's degree in engineering in a relevant field, preferably molecular biotechnology, technical biology, chemical engineering, or other education in biology/chemistry. You have at least 2-5 years' experience of hands-on laboratory work and previous experience in both product development of kits, reagents and applications as well as development and optimization of immunoassays.
You possess a good biological understanding of immunoassays and you have the ability to work independently and take on a large degree of responsibility and commitment to the task.
You have good interpersonal skills and you express yourself well in both Swedish and English.
This role will report to Director R&D Application – Sara Sandstedt. The role is a permanent contract full-time and you will be based at the HQ office in Uppsala. EU working permit is a requirement.
